World Record Attempt

World Record – Longest Squash Match

Watch live here

You will probably have already seen the publicity around the Club concerning the attempt which will be made by Len Granger and Jamie Barnett to set a new world record for the longest squash match.  If you have not yet seen any of the material then have a look at the video on YouTube at: .
In brief, Len and Jamie are aiming to play squash continuously for a period in excess of 37 hours.
Len and Jamie have been training hard for the event but they still need more volunteers to help with some of the organization during the event itself.  They will need also some individuals who can act as formal witnesses so that the marathon effort will be recognized officially by the Guinness World Records.
In particular, Len and Jamie need 2 witnesses, 1 steward and 1 referee for every hour of their 37 hour marathon.  Witnesses need to be professionals (e.g. teachers, nurses, chartered professionals, lawyers, police, doctors etc.) and stewards need to be well-organised individuals who can apply common sense.  Referees should, of course, be familiar with the Rules of Squash and able to count to 11!
The marathon attempt will start officially at 7.00 am on Friday 4 September and is expected to end around 8 o’clock on the Saturday evening.
If you can spare some time during that period to act as a witness, steward or as a referee, please contact Jamie on  Your help would be much appreciated.
As an added incentive to volunteer, we point out that there will be an open cinema at the Club on both Friday and Saturday night.  Tickets are selling out fast but anyone associated with squash (plus a friend or two) will be on the guest list and get in to the cinema for free.
The world record attempt will affect the availability of the squash courts.  Court 1 will not be available between 7am on Friday 4th September and 8pm on Saturday 5th September 2015.  Court 2 will be not be available between 5pm on Thursday 3rd September and 12 noon on Sunday 6th September 2015.  The Squash Section apologizes for any inconvenience which the world record attempt may have on other members.

Please remember that the attempt is seeking to raise funds for charity and you can pledge your financial support at:
Please support Len and Jamie – both financially and with your time.  Just an hour of your time would be very much appreciated.
